Jon Burt
Bass Guitar with Balls

Biog

I started playing guitar almost 40 years ago (good grief!) when I was 7. My Dad is a jazz guitarist and there was no way I wasn’t going to play a instrument of some sort.
At 14, I was playing rhythm guitar with my best mate Andy "Bernie" Bolton on lead guitar, Matt & Ivan Rooke on Bass and Drums and Dave Weston on throat. At some point, Matt moved to vocals & keys and I slid over to playing bass – and found that this was the instrument I loved the most.

During the 80s, I played with many excellent local musicians, in various weird and wonderful bands, the details of which escape me in the mists of time (and alcohol!). In the mid 80s, I auditioned for a "well known local rock band"– the result being my first stint with the lads in Dirtie Bertie.

Throughout this time, I was also involved with Jam Sessions at The Billabong in Rochester, playing Bass in the house band and at The Fleur de Lis in Burham. This led to a few Rock n’ Roll / Buddy Holly tribute gigs with Simon Rawlings. I also played a few dates locally and in Europe with The Sharpsters. I then teamed up with ‘French’ Malcolm Gilbert, Dave Tetmar and Vicky Nolan to form ‘The V Street Band’.

Most recently, I have been back on rhythm guitar with the Ska band Toot’n’Skamen and in a Duo with Vicky Nolan called ‘Babytoot’.
Of course, when I heard that Dave Robbo was getting together with Harry, Ray and Rob, I knew I had to be involved again. . . and here we are!
